Babies, toddlers, and preschoolers are learning all the time, wherever they are. Once babies start to get around on their own, they can become whirlwinds of energy and curiosity, learning and practicing new skills. To help parents and caregivers build on what they are already doing with their young children, Best Beginnings has Pinterest boards for Imagination Library books, as well as activity guides in English, Spanish, and Yup’ik, filled with brain-building ideas to use with babies, toddlers, and preschoolers.
The activities are based on the Alaska Early Learning Guidelines, endorsed by the state Board of Education & Early Development. The Guidelines provide guidance on what children can be expected to know, understand, and do at various stages. They also help parents and caregivers understand child development and their role in providing appropriate learning experiences.
