There are so many great ways you can engage your kiddos while you’re out and about. Here are a few suggestions:
- Keep books in the car
- Make up silly songs about what you’re doing together
- Talk about your day together using your five senses to describe new places and experiences
- Listen and sing along to kid’s music
- Play word games as you go on errands
- Look for book borrowing shelves at little free libraries in your neighborhood, or airports when you travel.
- Read labels together as you shop
- Go on a literacy walk
- Beside your usual supply of wipes, diapers, and snacks, pack your diaper bag with some literacy supplies:
- Favorite books that you rotate
- Issue of a children’s magazine
- Paper and markers for older children
- Stickers, stamps, stationary, and other writing essentials
