In 2007, the Alaska Children’s Trust awarded Best Beginnings a four-year grant to produce family-friendly activity guides based on Alaska’s Early Learning Guidelines (ELGs) in languages other than English.
Spanish, English and Yup’ik Activity Guides are available by request.
The ELGs have been endorsed by the State Board of Education and describe what children from birth to age 5 should know, understand, and be able to do.
They are aligned with the new Alaska Developmental Profile for kindergartners and the K-2 Standards, ensuring seamless transitions for children. Alaska’s ELGs help parents and adults who work with young children understand child development and their role in helping provide appropriate learning opportunities for children.
