LEARN & GROW
Alaska’s Quality Recognition and Improvement System (QRIS) is named Learn & Grow. The goal of a QRIS is to help early care and learning programs stay actively engaged in continuous quality improvement.
Learn & Grow provides a quality framework for early care and learning programs. Learn & Grow also provides families, communities, and policy makers with an understanding of what quality early care and learning is and the impact it can have on children’s development and readiness to learn and succeed in life.
Alaska has been planning for the development and implementation for a QRIS for approximately 10 years. Starting in July 2016, Learn & Grow joins 43 other states who have implemented a QRIS.
Funding for Learn & Grow is provided by the State of Alaska, Department of Health and Social Services Child Care Program Office via a grant to Alaska’s statewide Child Care Resource and Referral Network, thread. Learn & Grow is located within and managed by thread.
