Anchorage Imagination Library launched its first book shipment to children in March, 2009. Currently, over 5,000 children in the Anchorage area look forward to receiving a brand new book in their mailboxes each month – nearly one fourth of all the children under 5 in our community!

Anchorage Imagination Library is made possible through the generous financial support of Best Beginnings, United Way of Anchorage, Rasmuson Foundation, The Children’s Hospital at Providence, Alaska Department of Education & Early Development, and Alaska Housing Finance Corporation. Community Partners include thread, Anchorage School District, and Anchorage Public Library.

Thank you to Alaska Ski for Women for special funding to support the enrollment of children in the Infant Learning Program through Programs for Infants and Children, Inc. By delivering free, age-appropriate books and encouraging families to share stories with these young children, this program provides a reassuring and calming consistency to children who have been removed from their homes or have experienced difficult and dangerous living situations. We have many volunteer opportunities available, including data entry, staffing enrollment events, and participation on fundraising and event committees.

To enroll a child: Register online at www.dollysimaginationlibrary.com or telephone 265-3100. All children under the age of 5 living in the Municipality of Anchorage (including Chugiak, Eagle River, and Girdwood) are eligible to register.

Make a donation to Anchorage Imagination Library

A donation of $30 will enable a child to receive a brand-new, age-appropriate book in the mail once a month for one year. With $150, you will enhance the life of a child from birth until age 5 – or five children for one year. We welcome any amount.
