September 2009 -- The Alaska Pilot Pre-Kindergarten Project has been launched with the announcement of 19 classrooms in six locations. This is an important step forward in the effort to ensure young children receive quality early childhood education in Alaska, currently one of only 12 states that don't have state-sponsored preschool.
