Anchorage Imagination Library launched its first book shipment to children in March, 2009. By the end of the year, Anchorage had enrolled more than 2,000 children, or about 10% of Anchorage’s children under the age of 5. By the end of 2010, Anchorage Imagination Library hopes to more than double that figure, helping young children have access to books.
Partners include thread (formerly Child Care Connection), United Way of Anchorage, Best Beginnings, Communities in Schools of Alaska, Anchorage Public Library, Anchorage School District, University of Alaska Anchorage, and community volunteers.
