On Facebook: Valdez Imagination Library

Valdez Imagination Library launched its first book shipment to children in March 2013.  In our first year we surpassed our goal by enrolling 190 children!

You can “like” us on Facebook to hear about the quarterly events we organize for our Imagination Library families. These fun, book-themed events encourage reading, creativity, and imagination.

Valdez Imagination Library must raise funds locally to cover the cost of the books and postage. We are grateful for financial support from the Valdez business, organizations, families and individuals who want to spark a lifelong love of reading with children at an early age.

It’s easy to donate. Just click here or send a check to Valdez Imagination Library at the address above. Our program is run by a group of dedicated local volunteers so there are very few administrative overhead costs. Your donation goes directly towards putting books in the hands of children.

Valdez Imagination Library receives support from Best Beginnings and the Alaska Department of Education & Early Development. We also work closely with the Valdez Literacy Council, the Valdez Consortium Library, Hermon Hutchens PTA, and Parent Resource Center, as well as other preschool focused agencies in our community.

To enroll your child: Register online here, download a registration brochure, or pick one up at the Valdez Consortium Library or the Public Health Office (1001 Meals). You may also contact Kim Michaud at valdezimaginationlibrary@gmail.com. All children under the age of five living in Valdez are eligible to register.
