Anchorage Imagination Library launched its first book shipment to children in March, 2009. Today, more than 9,700 children in the Anchorage area look forward to receiving a brand new book in their mailboxes each month – that’s more than one-third of all the children under the age of 5 in our community!

You can “like” us on Facebook or sign up for our newsletter to hear about the events we organize for our Imagination Library families. These fun, book-themed events encourage reading, creativity, and imagination.

Anchorage Imagination Library must raise funds locally to cover the cost of the books and postage. We are grateful for the financial support from many families and individuals who want to spark a lifelong love of books. It’s easy to donate, just click here or send a check to Anchorage Imagination Library at the address above. Our program is run by dedicated local volunteers so there are very few administrative overhead costs. Your donation goes directly towards putting books in the hands of children.

Anchorage Imagination Library has also received generous support from Best Beginnings, United Way of Anchorage, Alaska Department of Education & Early Development, The Children’s Hospital at Providence, thread, Alaska Ski for Women, and the extraordinary volunteers who give so much time, ideas, and enthusiasm to the program.
